BURGER CAR

I've been recently making work that is an attempt to return to common
themes of drawings from my childhood, and this one is no less a part of that,

the burger car.

BREAD ROLL

An attempt at animation using a drawing tablet and photoshop. I think
it could use some added frames to smooth it out, but here it is
in it's current rougher state.

SCANSSCANS

I've had comprehensive scans done of the entirety of the pieces 'Dubstep' and 'Mammoth'. They are located on full hi-res display glory at my new website - http://www.petehillstrom.com

But here are small, crisp versions below.

Dubstep  ,  pen & ink  ,  42"  x  60"  ,  2012/13

Mammoth  ,  pen & ink  ,  42"  x  60"  ,  2011

DRISTIG - SENTRISK

Dristig - Sentrisk  ,  pen & ink / gouache  ,  2014

I spent a large amount of time at Messen on this piece, which was really just an ultimate practice in colour and light. There's enough flaws but enough interesting texturing and things going on to make it worth the time

KILLSTICK OF ÅLVIK

The Killstick of Ålvik  ,  digital  ,  64 x 64 px  ,  2014

The legendary killstick of Ålvik, i intended to try and tackle this with gouache
but i think it'll end here in pixel form, suits it better

SÍM

I am attending an artist residency at SÍM in Reykjavik for the month of March. (Would have been April as well, thank you Schengen) Below is a picture of a work in progress, taking inspiration from the visual patterns of geological features in the landscape of the island, converting them to heavily textured ink drawings.

ELECTRIC FUNERAL

I wanted to do an homage to Black Sabbath's Paranoid album cover. The idea was to have the neon sword man caught in a quiet moment, like sitting down and taking a bite out of a sandwich, motion blur included. This was a test sketch, and good watercolour practice. I feel its got a nicely unintentional retro-fashion illustration / sunday morning boys action hero cartoon look to it, which I'll happily accept. The sandwich may come later, might just leave it here.
